Ida Crown Makes Changes Based On Accreditation Feedback

Wednesday, October 2, 2019

By Gideon Miller-

AdvancED, an accrediting agency, accredited Ida Crown this year, and made suggestions to the school. ICJA plans to implement new changes based on their accreditation feedback.

AdvancED recommended ICJA observe its teachers more frequently and have clearer standards for their teachers. In response, Ida Crown is having teachers and administrators watch classes and take notes on how the teachers teach.

Also in response to AdvancED’s recommendations, Ida Crown is better aligning it’s curriculum with standards and making it more obvious why each class is being taught and why different classes are targeted to different grades.

ICJA is also restructuring its special services to make it easier for students to find people to talk with when they need help.

AdvancED also recommended that Ida Crown test their students more often, to better monitor students’ progress. Ida Crown may test their students more and— if they feel it is necessary— change students’ classes or the way a class is being taught based on test scores. ICJA is currently exploring options to amend their testing methods.
