By Gadi Kalman-

As the new year approaches, Ida Crown welcomes two new Rabbeim to its staff: Rabbi Mayer Simcha Stromer and Rabbi Yitzy Sprung.

Rabbi Mayer Simcha Stromer is from Teaneck New Jersey. He lives with his wife, Shira, and son, Ahron, in West Rogers Park. During his free time he enjoys exercise, reading, and puzzles. For the past 3 years Rabbi Simcha Mayer Stromer had been learning as a member of Yeshiva University Torah Mitzion Kollel right here in Ida Crown. Rabbi Mayer Simcha Stromer is teaching gemara to 11th grade boys and girls and Tanach to 11th grade girls.

Rabbi Yitzy Sprung previously lived in Miami Beach, and Australia. He went to Yeshiva College, which was a Lubavitch high school in Melbourne. Rabbi Sprung later went to Birkat Moshe, a yeshiva in Ma’ale Adumim. After Birkat Moshe he went to Bar Ilan for undergrad, and Yeshiva University for Semicha. Rabbi Yitzy Sprung previously learned in the Torah Mitzion Kollel of Chicago. He currently lives in Skokie with his wife and 2 kids. Rabbi Sprung is teaching Chumash to girls in grades 9,10, and 12, and boys in in grade 9. Rabbi Stromer has expressed that he is “most excited for the relationship itself, no agendas: just Jews connecting, learning, and growing.”

When asked about the Rabbi-student relationship, Rabbi Sprung said he awaits “to see what each student will do with the Torah we learn together.”

Every teacher has a deeper reason regarding why they enjoy teaching students.  Rabbi Stromer was inspired to become a teacher from a young age: “When I was in 10th grade, I had a Rebbe who was very influential and showed me Torah can be exciting and geshmak, and ever since then I've wanted to be a high school Rebbe,” he said.

Rabbi Sprung said “ Ida Crown is my community, and I think that teaching the students of my community is the best role I can play in it.”
