By Hannah Rothner-

The beginning of the school year signifies a return to early mornings and long days. Tests and homework are being assigned every day, and sports have just begun. The start of the year can be overwhelming, and another question is on many students’ minds: how do you find the right club? This will serve as the perfect guide for all incoming freshmen, or even students that are returning to school and need a refresher.

Charlotte’s Web

Charlotte’s Web, Ida Crown’s acclaimed literary magazine, displays students’ writing and artistic talents. The club welcomes literary and art submissions from all students and then edits these submissions to later be compiled into a magazine. To become a part of Charlotte’s Web, see Mrs. Arons.

Feminism Club

Covering topics ranging from the wage gap to women in the workplace, the Feminism Club meets every other week in the fishbowl. This club is open to both girls and boys and educates students about key issues facing women today. To join the Feminism Club, speak to Simone Miller or Dahlia Matanky.

ICGC

The Ida Crown Girls’ Club is among the most widely attended clubs at Ida Crown. As stated in its name, ICGC is only available to girls (sorry boys!). ICGC holds monthly events that allow girls from all different grades to come together and bond. In the past, activities have ranged from cookie decorating to dance parties. ICGC is run by Mrs. Hagage and Mrs.Kraft; flyers are sent out prior to each event.

Interact

Do you love doing chesed? If so, Interact is the club for you. Interact is part of Rotary International, and members of the club have the opportunity to engage in fun and meaningful chesed activities that give back to the community and take place on a monthly basis. In the past, Interact has run food drives, sold candy grams and baked goods, and gone on chesed trips. To participate in Interact, contact Mrs. Kahan or Hannah Wasserman.

Israel Advocacy

One of Ida Crown’s most popular clubs, Israel Advocacy meets every other Thursday during breakfast to discuss issues regarding Israel’s political affairs and current events. The club educates students on the Middle East and bills being passed in Congress and prepares students to lobby their representatives. To get involved, speak to Ms. Sennett or scan the image below to join the group chat.

Keshet Peer Buddies

Keshet Peer Buddies gives students the opportunity to spend time with Keshet students. You will be able to form meaningful connections through activities, lunches, and more! If you are interested in becoming a Keshet Peer Buddy, contact Maya Wasserman or Mia Herman.
