The class of 2023 is lucky enough to have a large variety of students from a wide range of schools and backgrounds. The Class of 2023 includes students from Hillel Torah, Arie Crown, Solomon Schechter, Cheder Lubavitch, Akiba Schechter, and various public schools. Some students have relocated from states including Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa.
According to the Director of Admissions, Suzy Nussbaum, “We are very excited about the amazing mix of kids… and look forward to an incredible school year!” The new diversity of students may contribute positively to the learning and overall atmosphere of the school.
Sophomore Laura Bellows describes her experience at ICJA as “A nice way to meet new students who did not necessarily have the same background as I do.” Speaking about the diverse group of new freshmen, Laura Bellows said “This creates a diverse environment of learning and interaction because of the differences that we were taught.”
Although Ida Crown usually attracts a varied mix of feeder schools for its freshman class, it is especially privileged this year to have an even greater variety of students coming from different schools. Students have expressed that it will make the social environment interesting and provide students the ability to make many new friends.
Freshman Emma Felix said, “It’s nice to have a change and meet new people. It’s also nice to have other people to hang out with.”
Furthermore, the diversity of people in the school will contribute to more interesting leaders, help clubs thrive, and broaden the social environment.
Freshman Hadassah Bernstein said, “The new group of kids will enhance our clubs, activities, and social environments. We have more personalities and individual traits in our grade.” Anyone can enhance any club or activity with their own self.
